From personal experience the only difference between the 55 watt HID (6000k) and 35 watts HID (6000k) is the color. The distance of light still remains the same. Maybe its not something that we can notice with the human eye. But yes it does sound better on paper.

Most preferred kelvin temperature is around 4000K daylight-brightness, no?
6000K is often called Cool-Daylight, cool is blueish and not good for automobile lighting.

From specifications:

Battery........................................... . 12 V 36.0 kC (8 Ah)/10 HR
Generator........................................ Three-phase A.C. generator
Main fuse ........................................ 30 A
Fuse.............................................. .. 10/10/10/15 A
Headlight......................................... 12 V 60/55 W

Isn't it necessary to convert this setup to full-DC before plonking an 35 or 55 W 4200K HID?
Or is it full-DC already, headlight lights up without starting the motorcycle.
Does 60/55 W generate more heat than 60/55 W Halogen?

Has anyone just tried a simple LED headlight bulb upgrade, the PnP ones that have those cooling "strings" on the back of them for like $50ish ?

I tried the one for a hundred bucks, without the "strings". Took forever to get the original bulb out from behind the "F" fairing. The "new" one didn't fit behind the rubber waterproofing cover. I re-installed the stock bulb, because it's very disconcerting to have a bulb die while you're on a road, moving at high speed in the middle of nowhere. It happened to me on a much bigger bike.

I'd like to know about the "strings" outfitting to the zoomer as well as you. I'm not real happy about the low glow of the stock bulb. Lots of deer, bear and other critters out here in the boonies. I need light distance and illumination. Otherwise, this is a super bike.
